Favourite travel memory

I have quite a few favourite travel memories. All of my trips have been very memorable in their own unique way but this one just popped into my head today.

Short story: I blew a fuse in the electrical box in the hostel I stayed in at Siem Reap, Cambodia. This caused the whole hostel to shut down and have no electricity for a good half hour or so until they fixed it. Even better, the hostel had been out of electricity for the last couple of days and that day was the first day they had their power back up and running and at full power, too.

This was my last day there and I had already checked out. I was about to leave to take an overnight bus to Phnom Penh but decided to make use of their pool one last time before the bus came. I had plugged my phone into the wall and as it didn't work properly I fiddled around with it. There was a loud POP! and scorch marks around the plug. All heads turned my way....and all I could do was stand there with my jaw dropped. I looked to my travel buddies with a 'wth should I do' look in my eyes. First instinct was to do a runner! But...there were witnesses. I don't know what would have happened had there not been someone who could fix it!

Lesson learned:  Don't buy cheap iPhone charger knock-offs! Buy a travel adaptor before you arrive in the country you're travelling to!!!

Adventure Tours Australia Photography Competition: Aussie Moments

Some very adventurous and memorable moments on my Adventure Tours Australia tour.

The owner of Kroombit Cattle Station in Queensland teaching me how to throw a boomerang.  You can see mine flying in the sky in this picture. There were extra bonus points if you could catch it as it came back. Taken in December 2010.

Mustering goats at the Kroombit Cattle Station. We got a feel of how it was living in the rugged terrain of Central Queensland. It's not all about the beaches! Taken in December, 2010.

Chilling with the fishes at Lake Wabby, Fraser Island. Taken December 2010.

Climbing to the top of the lookout at Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. Hold on tight, especially when there's a breeze!  Just one of the many stops along the  Great Ocean Road, Melbourne. Taken in December 2010.

Sunset action along the Great Ocean Road, Melbourne. Taken in December 2010.
After a little bit of a hike you end up here. Definitely well worth the effort. The most beautiful beach I have ever been to. Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays. Taken in December 2010.

Beautiful Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays. Breathtakingly beautiful. Taken in December, 2010.

Moses Miracle at Seonyudo

Off the west coast of South Korea is a little island called Seonyudo. The best port to access this island is from Gunsan and it takes about an hour and a half ride on a ferry to get there. It's a small island that is perfect for a little weekend getaway.

One of  my favourite things on this island is that when the tide goes out it creates a stone/shell pathway to a smaller island that is usually a little swim out from the shore. It only takes about two to five minutes to walk around the whole thing but it's a little beaut. Sitting on the top of the little peak under some shade you can look back onto the main beach and it seems like all your cares just wash away in that moment.

Looking towards the little island.
Walking out the water level was only ankle to mid-calf deep.
Walking to the peak of the little island.
Looking back towards the main island. You can see the pathway here.
We only stayed for about 5 minutes here. Walking back the water had risen to nearly hip deep.
